LIVE OLYMPIC GAMES FIELD TRIAL
The LIVE format was tested at ORF (Austrian public broadcaster) during the 2008 Summer Olympic Games. On 6 days during the Olympic Games ORF broadcasted 138 hours of the LIVE TV format to 500 Austrian households. The viewers were not only satisfied with the TV experience - they wanted more interactive programmes available.

PROJECT FACTS
LIVE is an Integrated Project partially funded under the European Union's IST Sixth Framework Programme. It was launched on January 2006 and will run until September 2009. The coordinator is Fraunhofer IAIS. The LIVE project promotes a new, third market segment in the digital interactive television sector that does not exist today: intelligent television programming and services. The LIVE solution radically improves on linear approaches to TV broadcasting of live events by providing digital technologies and content formats that enable viewers to shape their own personal and highly interactive viewing experience.

LIVE SYSTEM
The LIVE production support system comprises an overall system designed to support the entire life cycle of live staging including the preparation, production and post-processing of an interactive multichannel show. As a support system it provides the producer with contextual search and recommendation of multimedia content based on the analysis of data about the event with data about the user in a real-time production environment.
