iTV im olympischen Härtetest - Konzept und technische Plattform eines Mehrkanal-Programmformats

‘Live Staging of Media Events’ is an integrated project funded by the European Union. Its purpose is to develop innovative content formats and digital technologies to improve TV broadcasting of live events. To evaluate the results achieved over more than two years of research, the LIVE project performed a field trial in Austria with about 500 invited IPTV customers during the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics. For six days, LIVE’s partner (ORF) and a team of researchers produced an interactive multi-channel live TV programme designed to provide an enhanced viewing experience. This article starts with an introduction to the conceptual approach and the technical platform. It concludes with a presentation of the field trial and its results.

Segeln ohne Wind

Im Rahmen des EU-Projektes „LIVE-Staging of Media Events“ fand während der Olympischen Sommerspiele 2008 in Peking ein Feldversuch mit 489 Haushalten in Österreich statt. Sechs Tage lang wurde vom ORF ein interaktives, mehrere TV-Kanäle umfassendes Programm produziert, bei dem die Zuschauer direkten Einfluss auf die Inhalte der Sendung nehmen konnten. Gabrielle Schultz traf Dipl.-Ing. Philipp Krebs, ORF 1 interaktiv-Projektentwickler, Filmemacher, Kameramann und Lektor an der Technischen Universität Wien, zu einem Gespräch.

"ORF1 interaktiv" nominiert für "IPTV World Series Award"

"ORF1 interaktiv" wurde von Informa Telecoms & Media, London, dem Ausrichter der "IPTV World Series Awards", in der Kategorie "Best Interactive Service/Application" in die Shortlist aufgenommen. Dieser Preis wird heuer zum vierten Mal im Rahmen des "IPTV World Forums" vergeben. Die Mitbewerber um diese begehrte Auszeichnung sind Alcatel-Lucent (Interactive Media Manager), Miniweb Interactive (Miniweb Interactive Service Platform), NBC Universal (Bravo New Media) und Oberon Media (Diamond).

Diese neue Art des Fernsehens wurde von den Zuschauern sehr gut angenommen und geht es nach deren Wünschen, soll interaktives TV in Zukunft fixer Programmbestandteil sein.

LIVE: Atos Origin unterstützt Europäisches Forschungs-Projekt für interaktives Digital-Fernsehen

Der internationale IT-Dienstleister Atos Origin unterstützt das LIVE Projekt zur Entwicklung neuer interaktiver Services im digitalen Sportfernsehen. Die vom LIVE Konsortium entwickelte Lösung ermöglicht es den Zuschauern und den Programm-Regisseuren während der Fernsehübertragung miteinander zu kommunizieren. Dadurch können die Programm-Gestalter die Inhalte passgenauer bereitstellen und die Zuschauer können aus verschiedenen Bild- und Text-Angeboten wählen. Das ORF führt derzeit zusammen mit Aon.TV ein Pilot-Projekt in 500 Haushalten in Österreich während der Olympischen Spiele durch.
