Atos Origin have developed and deployed the Olympic IT systems in Salt Lake City (2002), Athens (2004), Turin (2006) and preparing the Beijing (2008). Atos will develop the necessary tools to acquire, organise, filter and transfer the information generated during the Olympics Games for the pressroom and other services.
Atos Origin sae has recently been selected to be a member of the Steering Board of NEM (Networked and Electronic Media) which addresses the convergence of media, communications, consumer electronics, and IT. NEM addresses the challenge of this convergence and others that will emerge in the future through the establishment of a strategic research agenda for long term technological and market development in the area of Media.
Also Atos is a founding member of the European Technology Platform NESSI (Networked European Software and Services Initiative). The platform was officially launched in September 2005 as industry’s commitment to cooperate on research and innovation in the strategic software, Grids, eServices and security sector for Europe.
Experience
Atos Origin is a worldwide expert in system integration; it will provide its knowledge in AV and data distribution including the manipulation of large information system such as the IT system used in the Olympic Games. Atos Origin is bringing its experience in the exploitation activities with a large list of successful deployment of R&D results. From the technical point of view, it has a long experience working in R&D projects in different areas. Related to the technical tasks of LIVE, it has participated in projects such as OLYMPIC, iSCORE and PENG among others. In these projects, it is dealing with distribution of AV content and data, allowing users to access information while visualization AV content. In PENG Atos is also working in content indexing filtering and retrieval. For the support on the LIVE activates related to the Olympic Games Atos will provide its experience. In addition, ARI has ran several R&D related projects in China where it has learned critical cultural and technical issues that should be taking into consideration to do something there. In this direction, the group has also been following the Digital Olympic initiative and other events related.
Project Role
Atos Origin is leader of the exploitation activities of the project’s outputs. Atos is also involved in technical activities especially in the interaction of textual information and acquisition and their relation with AV content.
