LIVE at EuroiTV 2008
EuroiTV 2008 addressed a range of emerging trends and research challenges in the area of interactive television.156 submissions addressing the various themes of iTV@Home, Mobile TV, social TV, and personalization and recommender systems were received, of which 5 workshops, 3 tutorials, 6 demos and 5 doctoral consortiums were accepted; 42 paper were also selected for presentation.
Under the motto more action, more stories one event LIVE presented its production tools for interlinked multi-channel production. The tools on show included: the human annotation tool, the message console from the intelligent media framework toolkit, the feedback application, the recommender application and the current version of the TV interface application.
There was a great interest in the work of LIVE. Visitors from both the research and industry communities agreed that the latest developments in intelligent information management systems will have a major impact on how TV content especially for live events will be produced. And LIVE is a pioneer project in testing these new technologies in the broadcast industry. There was a strong enthusiasm from the visitors to the LIVE Olympic trial in 2008. They stated that the scale of the trial in terms of content being produced and size of the user community will be a major sign post for the adoption of interlinked multi-channel live TV production.
LIVE also participated at the EuroiTV 2008 event with a technical poster depicting the role of the intelligent media framework in the LIVE system and scientific paper presentation on recommender systems for multi-channel production.
