LIVE System
The Role of the IMF and IMF Toolset
The Intelligent Media Framework (IMF) is designed to act as a back-end service for the various services within the LIVE production support system. It is designed to bridge the gap between the metadata creation tools also referred to as the Metadata Generation System (MGS) and the subsequent tools utilising the knowledge created by the annotators. In addition it integrates information from the Sport Information System (SIS) into the LIVE production support system and also provides services to add information about available content items from the archive.
The IMF Toolset covers all professional user level tools to interact with the IMF. Three tools were used within the scope of the Olympic trial.
- the Archive Ingest Tool used by archivists to add prepared content during the preparation phase;
- the Event Ingest Tool also used during the preparation phase to import events from the SIS, and
- the IMF Staging Console used by the editor to monitor the current state of events, live feeds and their annotations during live staging.
