IMF Toolset: Archive Ingest Tool

The Archive Ingest Tool is used for inserting content related metadata to the IMF in the preparation phase. Meta data of archived clips are ingested to the IMF and thus become available to all subsequent applications such as the Recommender System. The Event Ingest Tool is deployed for managing event related information such as event schedules and event participants in the preparation phase. The event related information is later used for holding all event situation statements created during the production of a show. The Staging Console visualises all information which is currently available for the editor(s) and the video conductor(s) during the staging of a show. This includes the visualisation of the event schedule, the incoming live feeds and in particular the visualisation of the created notifications from either the automatic meta data detection systems (DEA), the human annotation tool (HAT) or such external information systems as the Sport Information System (SIS) provided by ATOS.

The Archive Ingest Tool includes the following functional parts:

  • Clip-Information Panel: Lists all the stored clips on the connected play out server (see “Clips on K2 server” in Figure below). It also visualises the status of the clip which shows the clip has been ingested to the IMF or not.
  • Clip-Details: Allows editing of clip metadata. The “editing” function enables the annotation of the clip with concepts out of the controlled vocabulary and the addition of information from the archive. This information is separated into clip properties and free text (see “Basic clip metadata” and “Annotations” in Figure below).
  • Archive Panel: Outlines the available metadata from the archive (see “Archival metadata” in Figure below). Each entry is parsed and the requested information is extracted. The information out of the archive is ingested to any clip metadata with a single action.
