Setting the ICT research agenda for the next decade
The next ten years will see major transformations in the technological, industrial and business landscapes surrounding information and communication technologies, or "ICT". ICT 2008 will set the agenda for ICT research and innovation in Europe during this crucial decade.
The event will host leading visionaries from academia and industry and will address topics as diverse as Europe's role in shaping the future internet, ICT's contribution to advancing the sustainability agenda and alternative research paths for future ICT components and systems. These and many other cutting-edge themes will be explored in depth at ICT 2008.
What exactly will LIVE show the visitor?
LIVE is an integrated solution to produce on demand interlinked mulit-channel TV that is shaped by consumer feedback. To demonstrate these tools and services the LIVE stand will be divided into three sections representing the LIVE production workflow: 1) Main end-user TV screen; 2) Semi-automatic video analysis toolkit; 3) LIVE production room dashboard. On the main end-user TV viewing screen results of the LIVE production with user interactivity via remote control will be presented. This will be on a larger screen, with user interactivity via a remote control device. In the area of the semi-automatic video analysis toolkit, a screen will present the automatic video analysis tools which include, face detection, shot boundary detection and fade-to-black detection. A separate touch-screen device will demonstrate the human annotation tool which is used to annotate video material based on the concepts automatically feed from the intelligent media framework. The LIVE production room dashboard (which would be located in the broadcasters production room) consists of a screen with the consumer feedback analysis along with content recommendations based on search input. A second screen is the LIVE activity screen which presents the automatic content recommendations driven by the intelligent media framework. In support of the LIVE system demonstrator will be video documentation of the LIVE trial during the Summer 2008 Olympics.
